This place is absolutely AMAZING! - Anne P. | Irvine, CA

My boyfriend took me here this past Saturday for our two year anniversary. We had a table with a view of the city which was beautiful! 7pm is a great time to come in, there is still light outside and you are able to watch the sunset and the city lights turn on. Now, let's get to the food!!

Appetizers: Truffle frites were delicious! Perfect amount of seasoning and the fries were perfectly cooked! The crab cakes were divine! When the waiter brought it out, the aroma was heavenly. It was cooked just right where you could taste the delicacy of the crab.

Main dish: I got the rib eye and he got the filet mignon. The filet was good but the rib eye was the best choice. I had it made medium plus which kept it juicy and tender. It was paired with truffle mashed potatoes.

Dessert: Creme Brûlée. Omg please take me back now! It was so creamy and delicious, the right amount of sweetness.

All in all I had such an amazing time. The views, food and live jazz band was great! There's a dance floor which many couples were on. I myself it in a slow dance with my boyfriend. The waiters were very attentive and the food came out quickly which was refreshing. The bill was $220, a rather pretty penny (thanks babe!) but the memories are priceless. You can get a nice meal for two around $100 minimum, the drinks and appetizers do add up.

I cannot wait to come back here! :))

Awesome Visit - Musikisme

I was there for a second date with a very beautiful woman and they gave us the best seat on the house.

Our waiters Jose and Marty were amazing and so very friendly.

The food was exceptional and the view was outstanding. Looking forward to going back when the live band is there. Definitely a place to take someone special for an evening of magic.

I would definitely recommend this place to others

Not Only is the View Amazing... - Catherine A. | Anaheim, CA

Not only is the view amazing, the food and the service was one of the best I have ever had!

My boyfriend and I went here for our 5 year anniversary. We had to order their Pomme frites (truffle fries) and it was DANGEROUS! We could not stop eating it! We also ordered lamb chops and their bison which was quite divine!

Will definitely come back here!

A Great Dining Experience - Arthurman

I had the garden salad and my wife had the beet salad. We both had the filet mignon. All were excellent.

We had great service, with the manager recommending and telling us all about the wine from their own wine vineyard. We got the Coquelicot Syrah, which was very reasonably priced and really excellent.

We were seated at a table in the corner with glass so that we had a fabulous view.

All-in-all a great dining experience.

Amazing! - AJ B. | Orange County, CA

Amazing! Celebrated our anniversary here and had the most wonderful time. The atmosphere, food, drinks and entertainment were all superb.

The Sky Room deserves every bit of five stars. I would give them a 10 if I could since my husband left stating we should take dancing lessons so we could share a dance next time.

A perfect evening!

Spectacular View and Service - janf

The Sky Room is a gem located in downtown Long Beach at the top of the historic Breakers Hotel/Residences.

The food is great, filet of beef the best I've had and the service was terrific. They have entertainment which is a easy listening combo with two singers, very nice.

It may at first seem a special occasion restaurant but is appropriate anytime you want good food, romance and service.

My Parents Were in Town... - Jessica G. | Long Beach, CA

My parents were in town and wanted to take my husband and I out to a fancy dinner. I did some searching on yelp and found this place!

The views were amazing, our waiter was very professional and funny! The food was outstanding! All four of us had different appetizers and entrees and everyone loved their food!

We went on a Sunday night which was a great night to go because they are not as busy and we were able to make same day reservations and had a table next to the window!

I would definitely come back!

Sky Room = AWESOME - Twillbeback

Sky Room is a great place to celebrate an anniversary, birthday....great date night or even a girls night out.

Service is superb, the food is to die for. Valet parking is very reasonable. Lots of history with the building. Can't say enough great things about this place.

It's a must try if you haven't ever been.

Classy, Fun, Delicious, and Great Service! - Mary | Long Beach, CA

Classy, fun, delicious, and great service!

It was easy to make a reservation for 7 for a Saturday even though I called 2 days before. We had the most hilarious waiter, and he took the time to strike up conversation, and made us feel well taken care of. Three of my friends all wanted the Bison Short Rib but the waiter recommended we spice things up! Haha. So one of my friends ordered the Scallops. So good, so tender - I'm talking about all the entrees!

The view is spectacular!!! Lights everywhere, you can see so much of downtown long beach. I giggle when I think about how the Breakers Retirement home is the majority of the building since I'm only ever here to visit my grandma! Haha.

Even the elevator ride was awesome, with a man giving is a quick run down of the history of this hotel once belonging to Hilton I believe.

The dance floor and live music was amazing! I'll need to find me a man and make him bring me here! ;)

Excellent - OpenTable Diner

I love this place, the first time I went here was a Christmas time dinner with my girlfriend and we loved it.

I took my friend for her bday dinner along with her girlfriend and they loved it as well, the food is great, the portions are just right, service is great and the view is amazing.

I Chose This Restaurant for Location... - Jane G. | Long Beach, CA

I chose this restaurant for location and historical interest and I wasn't disappointed.

The bonus was the short history lesson from the elevator attendant (yes, they have one) on the short ride up to the restaurant, as well as the delightful waiter, Marty (he has worked there for a good many years).

The menu selections are varied and many of the choices sounded appetizing making my selection difficult. I settled on the Black Cod (delicious) and my dining companion chose the scallops (modifications to fit her diet were easily made) which was also great.

I'm looking forward to a return visit shortly but I'll make sure to find out if Marty is working since he was as much a part of the dining experience as the food.

The Sky Room in Long Beach - Valerie Owen

One of my favorite things about Open Table is the ease and convenience of making reservations any time of the day or night.

The Sky Room happens to be a pure gem and is the very best place in Long Beach for special occasions or out of town guests.

The view is spectacular and, when they have entertainment, it's wonderful. This place brings a bygone era alive, starting with the tuxedoed elevator operator.

The entire staff is quietly efficient and they never make you feel rushed. It's a little pricey but you'll have very good food and a wonderful dining experience.

Thank you for your help.

The "Sky" is the Limit - Opentable Diner

The Sky Room is everything you would want for a special occasion or romantic date.

It is pricey for a first date, but the views are awesome if you like gorgeous sunsets over the water and the night lights of Long Beach.

The servers are very accommodating and never rush you from one course to the other. It would be a weekly visit if I could.

I Chose This Restaurant for My Wedding... - Manny P. | Long Beach, CA

I chose this restaurant for my wedding dinner because of the view as well as good reviews on the food.

My partner and I got married at the OC courthouse on a Monday afternoon and selected the Sky Room. We figured this would be a great location to celebrate, just him and I. When I made the reservation and I mentioned that it would be our wedding dinner and asked for a table with a great view. We were given the best spot in the whole restaurant, the two person table on the outer corner overlooking the harbor. It was amazing! I felt like we were alone hovering over the city.

The staff knew about our wedding and they were all congratulating us. The hostess, the bartender, the manager, and the servers were all giving us some love. We got star treatment at the Sky Room. Our waiters Marty and Jose took great care of us and had delightful chit chat with us. They know good customer service.

Dinner was delicious. The bread was freshly made and still warm. We got the filet mignon because we wanted to go big. Well, it was juicy and delicious. I think the mashed potatoes were drizzled with something addictive because I couldn't stop eating them.

My mojito and my martini were so good and artfully made. I want to try more of those drinks. I can't wait to come back when it's full and the band is playing.

Overall, a very special dining experience. This place has a lot of history and a lot of class.

We will be back.

Sky Room...A Must Try Location - Opentable Diner

It all starts with your entrance into the long corridor that takes you further back in time as you wander your way to the Tux & Tails adorned "lift" attendant who greats you and escorts you to the elevator...and shares your ride to the Sky Room Restaurant atop the Breakers Hotel.

As the door opens...your transported back in time to the guilded age of california and Hollywood as the decor and ambience set the mood for the evening...and the view overwhelms your senses. And it only gets better from there.

The service was impeccable...the food was excellent....and there "house" wines...Coquelicot...from their own organic vineyards in the Santa Inez Valley...was exceptional....Chardonnay and Bordeaux Blend & Syrah.

Hightly recomended....Period!

This is a Beautiful Restaurant... - Deyo F. | Irvine, CA

This is a beautiful restaurant with a wonderful ambience.

I came here for a romantic dinner to celebrate an anniversary with my girlfriend, and the food was delicious, the mood was intimate and fun, plus having a live band to dance to while surrounded by the skyline all added up to an amazing experience.

Our server JT was very polite, friendly, sociable, and attentive. Pierre the Sommelier was a great enthusiast, and while I told him I was looking for a good bottle of wine in the $50-$60 range, he brought out this great Cote du Ventoux from 2003, really delicious, and I would have never guessed it would be under $40. He explained that the quality was high but is priced lower because the world is just starting to realize how great that particular vineyard is, so we pretty much got a high-end bottle of wine for a fraction of the price of what it will be in a few years.

I highly recommend this place if you are seeking for this kind of ambiance, and be sure to tip the servers well because there really is a reason why they are waiting at such a lovely restaurant.

What a View! - Opentable Diner

If you are looking for a place to go that is nostalgic, romantic with great ambiance, this is the place for you.

The service is top notch, the food is prepared perfectly and serviced with style. Our waiter was attentive, fun, friendly and made the overall experience even better.

I highly recommend The Sky Room and will be returning soon!!

I Always Order Too Much... - Wendy G. | Long Beach, CA

This morning I awoke to my leftover scallop and lobster mashed potatoes for breakfast: divine! I always order too much at the sky room so that I can take some home.

We began with drinks from the bar and these are old fashioned REAL drinks--perfect! Then the lobster mac and cheese followed by the veal chop and the scallops. Then port and the berry napoleon.

The service, the ambiance, and most importantly the food is the best in Long Beach. Our server was Marty who is always helpful and fun.

The sky room experience - Skydining

The sky room is a great place to take a loved one for dinner, the view is spectacular.

Service is great and the food is excellent, five star dinning. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff.

I will definitely be going back again.

Dinner at The Sky Room is an Experience... - Douglas L. | Irvine, CA

Dinner at The Sky Room is an experience - a pleasant step back in time. I booked reservations for four as I was entertaining some Korean customers. I'd heard this is a great "romantic date" place, but was a bit concerned how it would serve as a "business" venue. Well, that concern turned out to be completely unfounded.

Our server Marty, obviously a seasoned pro, quickly 'read' that we were hoping for efficient, attentive service, but otherwise preferred to be left to our business. Throughout the evening, he and his team provided an exceptional dining experience for us.

The menu is nicely varied, and would seem to have offerings suitable for everyone's taste. All our food was beautifully prepared and presented, especially the Filet Mignon and Rib Eye which were cooked precisely to order. Also - an added value - our entrees included both a vegetable and potato offering.

This place is the very definition of ambiance - a trio of live music provided a nice backdrop to our conversation. The decor is warm and inviting, and really seems to come into its own as the lights dim, night falls and the spectacular views outside come to life.

Anxious to come back...I need to explore the bar...

Best in Long Beach - OpenTable Diner

I loved the 1940's deco art ambiance and the best scenic view in Long Beach. The jazz band was very good and could play classic as well as modern jazz and dance music (There's a dance floor which was very active.)

The food is tasty and well prepared and a little pricey. This is a great restaurant for a special occasion (we were there for a birthday party) or a dinner date.

Absolutely perfect! - Michael L. | Oceanside, CA

Absolutely perfect! Went to the sky room to celebrate our anniversary at 7:45pm. When we got there we were greeted by the valet for parking, which was $7. As we were walking down the hallway towards the elevator, there was a bunch of historical artifacts. Very vintage! Took the elevator to the top sky room floor and was amazed by the design of the restaurant. It definitely had a romantic and nice ambience as the host was walking us to our table. We got seated towards the corner of the room, which had a gorgeous sunset view of the rainbow harbor and rest of the city. For a Monday night, we basically had the place to ourselves that made it more intimate for us.

Server came out promptly to bring us bread, butter, and sea salt. The creaminess of the butter and the saltiness of the sea had a pretty good combination with the bread. First time trying it like that. Ordered our drinks, but one of them tasted quite bad, so it was cool that our server gave us a different one.

Prime rib eye with asparagus and truffle pommes frites - Right when the prime rib eye came out, it was tender and juicy that melted like cotton candy when I ate it. The seasoning was a bit salty in addition to the truffle pommes frites, but had the perfect amount of garlic to balance it out. The prime rib was cooked to the correct temperature I asked for. As for the asparagus, it was great having that to balance out all the flavors and sodium.

Filet mignon with haricot vert, truffle infused mashed potatoes, and bordelaise reduction - The sauce for this plate was delicious. It complemented like gravy for the truffle infused mashed potatoes and went good on the filet mignon.

Sky Room Hot Fudge Sundae - Vanilla bean ice cream, nuts, and whipped cream topped with a cherry. Damn, the best finisher ever. 5 minutes into this cup of sweetness, fireworks started going off at the rainbow harbor that created the grand finale moment of our anniversary. I couldn't have expected and asked for a more picture perfect romantic experience. So lucky!

Overall, I would love to come back to the sky room again. Amazing location and property. Quite the pleasure and was as great as it gets!

WOW - 24thanniv

What a fantastic night! Went to dinner with my wife, got seated in the corner with an awesome view of the full-moon rise. LOVED the Coquelicot wine that Marty brought. We started with the best crab cakes EVER. Then I had the Bison Short Ribs and it was excellent too.

Everything about this dinner was perfect. We cannot wait to go again.

WOW! This place is worth it! - Michael L. | Oceanside, CA

WOW! This place is worth it! I took my girlfriend of 1.5 years here last night just before proposing to her (she said YES). She had always wanted to go. We showed up to the kind Valet ($7) and walked in. You go to the last of like 4 elevators and wait for an employee to come down and take you up. They are very nice and full of information. Once upstairs they seat you quickly and we were lucky to get the window view. It was a Thursday so the place was not too busy. Our server was Kit and was very nice. It was stunning right at sunset at 7pm.

My date ordered the Fagottoni Pasta which was pesto and a walnut based stuffed pasta. It was $27 and large serving and tasty. I had what many others said they liked, the Filet Mignon for $43. It came with delicious garlic mashed potatoes and a large serving of green beans. One of the BEST dishes I have ever had. WOW! After we had the Extreme Supreme Chocolate Cake ($13). It was massive with chocolate on top and vanilla ice cream. It was very good!

Overall, very nice staff and classy place. The view is amazing and the restaurant is clean and romantic. The staff called me the day before to confirm the reservation and everyone was extremely friendly. This is the perfect place for an anniversary, wedding, proposal, or birthday dinner. I think Kit was an amazing waitress and gave us space to talk and think about our orders. I have no complaints at all. And the entire time there was a very happy and professional piano player setting the mood! Great job Sky Room!!!!

Great Night View - ytapia

Excellent service! Food was good, not the best I've had but very flavorful.

Recommend for a romantic occasion. I went for my boyfriends birthday and we stared with Calamari it was a sushi type of dish I was expecting something warm but it was cold, I had the scallops and my boyfriend had filet mignon.

Overall it was great, I paid less than what I was expecting which was perfect :}

We Had an Awesome Dining Experience! - Lynn D. | Long Beach, CA

We had an awesome dining experience! Beside the fantastic views the food was great! I had the Maui dish and it was fantastico. The artichokes were fresh and fish was very fresh as well! Mario thier Italian born maître d came by and offered us some tastings of the estate wine. We chose the syrrah and it was smooth and full bodied.

Did not want to leave and lingered on for a few hours! Would come again and bring visiting guests for views and great food and service.

Amazing All Around - estefanyae13

From the welcoming greeting to our way out the door, everything was just amazingly perfect.

The ambiance of the restaurant and the view out the window was incredibly beautiful along with delicious food and great service.

I went for the DineLA dinner, so it wasn't as pricey as it usually gets, but the money is well worth it. I got the crab cake and the filet mignon for the appetizer and entree, they were both delicious! My boyfriend got the duck and that was also really good. We also ordered the wine pairing with each course and it made it even better. For dessert we got the caramel gelato and the chocolate cake, both so good they melt in your mouth. Marty was our server and he was the best!

One of my favorite restaurants by far!

Deservedly a 5-star Restaurant. - Doug F. | Upland, CA

The Sky Room is deservedly a 5-star restaurant. The entire meal is an experience, beginning with the ride up the elevator and some back story on the building's history. Upon entering, the dining room itself has a bit of a cruise-ship feel with casino carpets, colored uplighting, and outdated 80s decor, but it contrasts with breathtaking views out both sides of the restaurant. I found the contrast quirky and charming.

The menu offers grass-fed beef and a bevy of fresh seafood. I went for the Diver Scallops on lobster mashed potatoes while my wife ordered the filet. Both arrived nicely presented and were of high quality. Most impressive, however, is the restaurant's wine list, or rather, wine book. The selection can't be beat, and the manager will answer any questions you have or make recommendations.

Service, attentive and professional, is what I would expect from a high quality restaurant.

Perfect Anniversary Experience - OpenTable Diner

One of our favorite locations for special occasions, the Sky Room once again met our expectations.

The service was exemplary, the Filet Mignon perfectly prepared, and the 6-piece band was outstanding.

All-in-all, a wonderful evening.

I Heard About The Sky Room - Mon D. | Northridge, CA

I heard about The Sky Room through the DineLA week list and I was really excited to go there based on the view and reviews. (I honestly wasn't expecting much out of the food since most restaurants that offer an amazing view, don't offer the most amazing of food. I'm very happy to report how wrong my assumptions were!)

I went there last night for dinner, finally and it was an absolutely amazing experience. From the drinks, to the food, to the view and even the music playing - my experience couldn't have gone any better. I ended up not ordering from the DineLA menu, but opted for their regular menu instead. I ordered the creamy onion soup and the filet as an entree. It was deliciously perfect!

Our waiter, Shaun, was fantastic! Very attentive and courteous. Throughout our time there, several staff members approached my table and asked how everything was going and if there was anything else we needed. I loved how much they care about their customers!

I highly recommend this place not only for the amazing view, but for their delicious food and fantastic service! It's a perfect place for a date or even for a family dinner. I will definitely be returning!

Birthday Celebration - OpenTable Diner

I took my darling friend here to celebrate is 33rd Birthday.

It was both of us first time visiting that restaurant and didn't know what to expect. We were truly blown away. The atmosphere was awesome, the views to die for and the service and the food was exceptional. The servers were very attentive, not pushy so you didn't feel rushed, they just seem to be there at the right time when you need them.

This restaurant seems to truly value the patrons. The food was very good and I love the live band that they had, it was very, very energetic and people all around us were having a great time.

I will definitely go back here, and I do recommend it to friends.

Favorite Restaurant in Long Beach - Steven N. | Long Beach, CA

The sky room is my absolute favorite restaurant in Long Beach! It's always an event going there.

First you go up in an old elevator that looks like its from the 40's and when you get to the top floor the door open to a restaurant you'll not soon forget. The Sky Room is kept extremely clean and classy. The bar has a huge wine selection and there is friendly staff to help you pick. The views are the best in long beach, you see the harbor and downtown... It's really breath taking.

Finally the food....AMAZING!! We always get the cheese plate, filet and chocolate cake for dessert if we're feeling it!

I urge anyone who wants to have a one of a kind evening to go! Did I forget to mention the live jazz and dance floor, oh yeah :)

Nice Joint - OpenTable Diner

The music was great. Great crowd and was a very happy evening.

My Rib Eye Steak was absolutely fantastic. Highly recommend the Beet Salad.

Bartender is not shy on the alcohol in the libations!

I was there for a second date with a very beautiful woman and they gave us the best seat on the house.

Our waiters Jose and Marty were amazing and so very friendly.

Awesome! - LOSNCINDY

My wife and I celebrated our 29th anniversary at the Sky Room, and I couldn't have picked a better place.

The ambiance was very nostalgic, we loved the "Red Carpet" entrance, the elevator valet, the view was breathtaking the food, ah the food was amazing.

We started our meal with the Sky Caesar salad and Onion soup then had the filet mignon and the salmon which were cooked to perfection. The wine list was extensive. But we ordered a bottle of my wife's favorite wine. The service was superb our waiter Marty was in my wife's words "Fabulous", as we're the rest of the staff.

We can't wait to dine there again.

Just Enjoy the Experience - Patrick L. | North Hollywood

We've been here twice over the past five years and each time we've been more than satisfied.

Our server was Jeffrey (hope I spelled it right) both times and he's great. He made us feel comfortable and knew the menu like the back of his hand.

On to the food...which was awesome. They always start you out with an amuse bouche (look it up if you don't know what this means), which is always a nice touch no matter where you go. It doesn't always hit the mark, but still a nice gesture. We've had the veal chops, kobe beef and scallop entree. Let's put it this way, even in the microwave the next day, the veal chop was still AMAZING.

Our glasses were kept full and our dinners were served at the appropriate time. Luckily our two-year old daughter is well-mannered and on this last occasion we were able to enjoy our food (we even got compliments about her from the tables around us).

This place gives a sense of what it was like when dinner was an event, like back in the day...I felt like I was on the Titanic.

Sure, some things can be considered cheesy but don't come in with a poor attitude and hating on everything. Just enjoy the experience and if there's something you are unhappy with, I'm sure they'll do their best to make it better.

I was happy with this place, end of story.

Wow, What a Night! - Christina V. | Hayward, CA

Wow what a night! This restaurant should be reserved for special occasions and a large bank account, you can expect the average to be around $100 per person w/ appetizer, entree, dessert & drinks.

The service is the best I have ever had, top notch! From the moment you step into the lobby from valet, men in tuxedos and top hats dote on you and escort you to the elevator and up to the 13th floor.

The wait staff was very friendly and warm not at all stuffy or snooty. Someone was always there to escort you to the restroom, re-fold your napkin when you got up, fill up your water glass and bring bread. The server was very good about explaining the options and describing the dishes.

I started off with the Indonesian crab cakes with apple and fennel salad that I dare say were perfect! This restaurant has mastered presentation as all the dishes served were picture worthy as well as delicious. They had many dessert options and if you do go, I highly recommend the fresh berry fruit Napoleon with flaky pastry dough, Chantilly cream and fresh berries layered beautifully on a glass plate with with raspberry sauce star burst decorations adorning the plate.

Another nice touch is that they presented our table with tasty tidbits before and after dinner, compliments of the chef.

The crowd was a bit on the older side (it is located atop a retirement home after all). A live band played music and couples enjoyed dancing on the dance floor in the middle of the room.

We had a great table next to the window on the side looking out to ocean, other views were of downtown Long Beach.

Definitely a memorable evening!
